What is Antardasha (Bhukti)?
Antardasha, also called Bhukti, is the sub-period within a Mahadasha in the Vimshottari Dasha system. If the Mahadasha is the main chapter of a life-phase, the Antardasha is the paragraph within it — a shorter period ruled by a second planet that fine-tunes what you experience. Each Mahadasha is divided into nine Antardashas, one for every planet, running in the fixed Vimshottari order and in proportion to each planet’s Dasha length. So at any moment two planets are working together: the Mahadasha lord sets the broad theme, while the Antardasha lord adds a shorter, sharper flavour. This is why two people in the same Mahadasha can feel very different — they are in different Antardashas.
