What is Gochar (Planetary Transit)?
Gochar, or transit, is the real-time movement of the planets through the zodiac as they travel over your birth chart right now. While your birth chart is fixed at the moment you were born, the planets keep moving — and where they are today, relative to your birth Moon sign, is what Gochar measures. In Vedic astrology transits are read mainly from the Moon sign (Rashi): a planet’s house position counted from your Moon tells you whether its current influence is favourable or challenging. The slow planets matter most — Saturn takes about 2.5 years per sign (driving Sade Sati and Dhaiya), Jupiter about one year, and Rahu-Ketu about 1.5 years — so their transits mark the big shifts of life.
