A name number is your name converted to digits and reduced to a single figure. Simple enough - except that there are two systems in common use, and they give different answers.
Values run in alphabetical order. A=1, B=2, C=3, through to I=9, then round again: J=1, K=2, and so on to R=9, then S=1 through Z=8.
It is regular, easy to remember, and the system most western numerology uses.
Values are assigned by sound rather than by alphabet, and the system never uses 9 - the number was held sacred and not given to any letter. So: A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4, E=5, F=8, G=3, H=5, I=1, J=1, K=2, L=3, M=4, N=5, O=7, P=8, Q=1, R=2, S=3, T=4, U=6, V=6, W=6, X=5, Y=1, Z=7.
